The Architect lived almost his entire life in Birmingham and was a vocal advocate for art education. He was also a founder of the Birmingham Antique Academy, which later became the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.

The Architect’s Early Years and Career

At the age of 17, Thomas Garner became an architect’s apprentice to Sir Gilbert Scott. George Frederick Bodley, one of his direct successors at Scott’s, was already creating a reputation for himself. A deep bond was developed between two people. People admired him for his ability and hard work.

In 1898, Garner became a Roman Catholic, and the company ended its collaboration with Bodley for fear of harming the latter’s business. Despite his aversion of business and trade, Bodley and Garner founded a fabric to offer stitched and textile things.

Watts & Co was the name of the firm, which began on Baker Street in London and is still active near Westminster Cathedral. Bodley’s disdain of trade inspired the name. They inquire of the founders, “Who was Watts?” “What’s in a name?” replied Bodley.

As their numbers expanded, Bodley and Garner’s commissions became less strictly religious. Although college constructions at Oxford and Cambridge, as well as private apartments and offices, church development remained the most popular. As a result of their expanded reach, their true partnership faltered.

One of Bodley and Garner’s students, landscape designer Inigo Thomas, specialized in formal gardens with geometrical layouts in 17th and 18th-century styles, which matched the various opulent mansions that Bodley and Garner restored. His net worth was $6 million.

Thomas Garner married Rose Emily Smith on October 6, 1866. They had been in love for a long time and were now ready to start a new chapter in their lives. They lived blissfully since there were no rumors about their disagreements and misunderstandings.

Garner had just recently began his prison sentence for the 1984 murder of Pamela Cahanes, a 25-year-old Navy recruit, when prosecutors said it was not the first time he had taken a woman’s life. He was also charged with second-degree murder in the 1982 slaying of Kathy Warnette, according to WFTV.

“To defend her nation, Pamela Cahanes joined the Navy. Everyone instead compels her to battle Thomas Garner for over eight minutes before succumbing to her injuries.” He was sentenced to life in prison by Circuit Judge Marlene Alva.

I hope they can rest easier knowing that Garner will wake up in a jail cell tomorrow, and every day after that, knowing exactly why he’s there,” Assistant State Attorney Anna Valentini said in a statement. Additionally, he died on April 30, 1906.
