James Callis is an actor from the United Kingdom. He is most recognized for his roles as Dr. Gaius Baltar in the reimagined Battlestar Galactica miniseries and television series. James Callis was born to a Christian family in Hampstead, London, England, on June 4, 1971, as James Nicholas Callis. In London, he was reared by his parents and two sisters, Sarah and Sophie Callis.
He is of the Caucasian race and British nationality. Before moving on to Harrow School in northwest London, he attended St. Martin’s Prep School in Northwood, London. Callis went on to study English and Related Literature at the University of York, where he graduated with a BA in 1993. He was a rugby player and a member of Derwent College. Beginner’s Luck was critically derided, yet it played for nearly three weeks in one cinema in central London on one print (all the low-budget picture could afford), then went on a tour of student cinemas across the UK.
