Because of Bill Clinton’s campaign promise of “two for the price of one,” opponents mocked the Clintons as “co-presidents” or referred to them as “Billary.” Conflicting beliefs about the duty of a first lady were enough to push Hillary Clinton into “imaginary talks” with Eleanor Roosevelt, who was also politically involved. Hillary also sought safety in a Fellowship prayer group, which included many women of conservative Washington elites, from the time she arrived in Washington.
