Taurean Blacque is an American actor who has worked in theater and television. He is most recognized for his role as Detective Neal Washington on the long-running and critically acclaimed television drama Hill Street Blues. On May 10, 1940 in Newark, New Jersey, Herbert Middleton Jr. was given the name Blacque at the time of his birth. Prior to making her debut on television, Blacque received her education and played at the New Federal Theatre in New York City; this theater was founded to provide blacks and women with chances.
